What we collect
When you create an account we collect your name, email, and (optionally) a profile photo, city, gender, and bio. When you post a listing we store the details you provide, including budget, neighborhood, and lifestyle preferences. We also record technical information such as your IP address and browser type to keep the service secure.
How we use it
Your information powers the marketplace: matching listings to searchers, letting members message each other, keeping accounts secure, and preventing abuse. We do not sell your personal information.
Who can see what
Your listing content, display name, and city are visible to anyone browsing HalalRoommate. Your email address, private messages, and saved rooms are visible only to you. Message contents are visible only to the participants of that conversation.
Your choices
You can edit or delete your listings at any time from your dashboard, and you can request account deletion by contacting us. Deleting your account removes your profile and listings; message history may be retained in the other participant's inbox unless they also delete it.
Sensitive preferences
HalalRoommate is a shared-living community. Filters that reference gender, religion, dietary practice, or lifestyle exist so members can find compatible households. Depending on your jurisdiction, using such preferences in a housing decision may be restricted. You are responsible for complying with local law.
